About the role

The Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) position supports the MFLC program, providing coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations. This role involves providing behavioral counseling services to military service members and their families, as well as participating in training and health and wellness presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, and youth of service members.
  • Assess, brief counsel, and consult with clients, ensuring referrals to appropriate resources.
  • Engage with military members, spouses, and children to address behavioral health issues.
  • Participate in training and health fairs, and report counselor activity data accurately.
  • Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure program alignment and meet installation needs.
  • Manage duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to DoD protocol.
  • Communicate with supervisors and participate in regular supervision meetings.
  • Respond to critical incidents and special requests as directed.

Requirements

  • Masters degree from an accredited graduate program in a mental health related field or social work.
  • With short notice, willing to accept assignments of undefined periods including weekends and two weeks.
  • Adaptable to new working conditions and environments.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal instruction and guidance.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
  • Prior military service or strong familiarity with military culture preferred.
  • For CYB positions, must meet Magellan MFLC CYB criteria for experience with children and youth and specialty in child and adolescent development/psychology.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure required for this position that meets State, Commonwealth or customer-specific requirements.
  • Must be an independently licensed behavioral health clinician.
  • Ability to prove US Citizenship.
  • Experience working in a school setting for CYB positions is preferred.
