About the Role

Under general supervision, you will maintain good housekeeping of shop areas, docks, and storage areas by sweeping, mopping, cleaning, and organizing supplies and materials. The role requires safe work in close proximity to metal cutting equipment such as lathes, mills, presses, shears, saws, and other metal working platforms. You will handle various production wastes per requirements and safely operate mechanical equipment including fork trucks, automatic floor scrubbers, cranes/hoists, vacuum cleaners, and pumps.

Work may involve rotating equipment, contaminated surfaces, chemical environments, and unair-conditioned areas. Shift work and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain housekeeping in shop areas, docks, and storage areas
• Safely work near metal cutting and rotating equipment
• Handle production wastes per requirements
• Operate mechanical equipment (fork trucks, floor scrubbers, cranes, etc.)
• Work in chemical environments and unair-conditioned areas
• Adhere to Radiological Work Permits (RWP), Safety Data Sheets, and facility postings
• Complete training requirements during the 12-week probationary period

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• 1 year of hands-on work experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment (e.g., chemical operations, machine shop), or completion of a trade school/vocational program, or a relevant industrial/manufacturing certification or associate degree
• Ability to read, write, and understand written/oral job instructions, procedures, and safety documents
• Demonstrated ability to recognize task-related hazards and work safely in an industrial setting with hazardous materials/chemicals
• Meet physical requirements for the position
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Subject to plant licensing for equipment operation
• May require work in a beryllium area and entry into the beryllium program
• Must meet DOE O 426.2A requirements (High School diploma or alternative)
• May require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP), including a counterintelligence-scope polygraph

Pay

Hourly pay rate: $30.70 - $35.88
