MFG Engineering Technician (On-site)

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports all production and calibration equipment used within operations. This role involves calibrations, preventive maintenance, equipment training, and collaboration with Engineering to identify and implement next-generation equipment solutions and improvements to existing assets. The technician troubleshoots process issues, diagnoses device and equipment failures, and drives process improvements with a strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example, living core operational values: Listen, Challenge, Transform, Care, and Commit.
• Develop a robust understanding of production procedures, including 3D printing, electric assembly, service and repair, shipping, and electrical/acoustical testing.
• Collaborate on new equipment/process implementation and improvements to existing equipment/processes.
• Serve as a liaison between the Manufacturing Engineering Team and other operational teams for process improvements, production activities, and data acquisition of failure modes.
• Participate in deploying facility layout changes as required.
• Lead and oversee rework efforts.
• Perform quality checks on devices.
• Identify and drive improvement efforts to support cost, quality, delivery, and safety initiatives.
• Collect and trend data on returned products and process failures; provide recommendations for process improvements to address root causes.
• Proactively identify growth and development opportunities, driving continual improvement.
• Adhere to all compliance and regulatory requirements, including participation in CAPA and audit action plan execution.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of equipment experience in a production environment with assembly; electronics experience preferred.
• Continuous improvement mindset.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including data acquisition and analysis.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare and deliver technical reports.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Qualifications

• Required Education: 2-year Degree in Electronics, Manufacturing, Engineering, or equivalent work experience and knowledge.
• Understanding of LEAN methodologies and their application to operations.
• Hearing or medical device experience is a plus.
• Experience with electronic assembly, firmware management, 3D printing systems, UV cure systems, acoustical test systems, and laser marking.
• 1-3 years of experience in a regulated environment (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA QSR).
• Experience with data acquisition/analysis and fact-based decision-making.
• Limited travel as needed by project (0-1 weeks annually).

Work Environment

• Office and light assembly operations.
• Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and supporting assembly operations; some heavy lifting or strenuous activity may be required.
• Full-time position during normal business hours, with potential for limited after-hours production support.

Pay

Total annual compensation for this position includes a competitive base pay, along with performance-based commissions. Depending on work location, the hourly pay ranges from $30.00 to $33.00 per hour.
