Qualifications
- Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
- Two years of full-time skilled work in drafting, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, inspection, or other related building maintenance or construction trades.
- Qualifying full-time experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis (maximum of two years).
- Additional qualifying coursework from an accredited college, university, technical institute, or vocational school in electrical technology, mechanical technology, engineering, or a related field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (maximum of two years).
- A valid vehicle operator's license may be required for some positions.
Responsibilities
- Travel to assigned locations to inspect HUD homes for compliance with appropriate codes and standards, including construction and installation.
- Document inspection findings in reports and disseminate them to appropriate parties.
- Maintain basic knowledge of federal codes and standards, National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) codes, and manufacturer’s design requirements.
- Correspond with external customers (manufacturers, contractors, licensees) regarding compliance with adopted codes and standards.
- Communicate with homeowners about inspection findings and complaints, explaining internal processes, codes, standards, and applicable rules/regulations.
- Attend all internal meetings and mandatory training.
- Stay up-to-date on code and standard changes within the industry.

Driver Requirements
- A valid driver’s license.
- For the past five years, the candidate’s driver record must not include: DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations.

About the Role
Under general supervision, this intermediate-level position is responsible for manufactured home inspection work of average difficulty. Responsibilities include inspecting manufactured homes for compliance with state and federal regulations, evaluating quality control programs of manufacturers, and investigating consumer complaints.
This role differs from the entry-level Manufactured Home Inspector Associate and the advanced Manufactured Home Inspector Advanced, which serves as a subject matter expert and performs special assignments.
