About the role

The Metrology Technician II is responsible for the calibration, maintenance, and repair of various types of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) throughout the facility to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This role involves scheduling and performing calibrations, troubleshooting instrumentation issues, and maintaining detailed calibration records. The technician will work with both analog and digital equipment, including but not limited to gauges, transducers, temperature and humidity sensors, calipers, micrometers, top-loading balances, and floor scales. Additionally, this role requires coordination with external vendors to ensure timely calibration of designated equipment by certified laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Complete calibration certificates in an orderly and neat manner
• Review calibration data ensuring the accuracy of calibration, dates, and completeness
• Use computers to enter calibration data and perform other calibration software tasks
• Communicate instrumentation problems with users and management
• Troubleshoot and make minor repairs to instrumentation
• Calibrate major systems with supervision
• Maintain accurate and current M&TE procedures and documentation
• Coordinate with vendors to have M&TE calibrated by designated laboratories based on individual M&TE requirements
• Read and interpret SOPs to ensure compliance
• Maintain up-to-date trainings
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment by actively identifying and addressing potential hazards, following established safety protocols, participating in safety training programs, and fostering a culture of awareness and responsibility among team members
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Minimum of one (1) year of metrology technician or related work experience
• Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
• Technical training with three (3) years of experience in calibration, instrumentation, or electronic troubleshooting preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety instructions, standard operating procedures, policies, and manuals
• Ability to write clearly and communicate effectively
• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs
• Ability to demonstrate understanding and effective application of written and oral instruction
• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to quickly adapt and learn new manufacturing software systems
• Strong attention to detail
• Basic computer skills including utilizing software such as calibration manager
• Ability to enter calibration data, write reports, and business correspondences
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret SOPs, technical procedures, and government regulations
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from observations
• Must pass a background check and drug screen
• May be required to pass Occupational Health Screening
• May be required to obtain and maintain gowning certification

• Office, manufacturing, or warehouse environment
• Office environment is designed for comfort and productivity, with room temperature settings maintained for optimal working conditions; conversational noise is common
• Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment is sterile, requiring aseptic gowning and personal protective equipment (nitrile gloves, clean room socks, face-shields, safety glasses, aprons, steel-toed shoes, and powered air purifying respirators)
• Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, confined areas, refrigerator or freezer temperatures in sterile environments
• Warehouse environment is typically temperature-controlled but may involve refrigerator or freezer temperatures when retrieving materials
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, elevated heights, airborne particles, electrical activities, and vibration
• Exposure to compressed gases and requirement to wear ear protection in some positions
• Exposure to cleaning agents in all environments

Pay

Education, experience, location, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Pay range must be posted for all jobs in NY, CA, MA, and all remote jobs.
