Metrology Technician I (2nd Shift)

About the Role

This is a 2nd shift position with initial training on 1st shift for several months before transitioning to 2nd shift. You will perform assigned tasks related to measurements of rubber components using programmable optical measuring systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate measurements of complex molded rubber components using advanced programmable optical measuring systems.
• Perform day-to-day metrology functions by following established standard operating procedures.
• Interpret and apply metrology programs.
• Handle all support tasks, process documentation, and prepare dimensional reports.
• Interpret engineering drawings/schematics and apply GD&T.
• Determine the most appropriate measurement method based on part tolerances and GD&T.
• Produce dimensional reports, collect and analyze data, and understand statistical process control rules.
• Perform GR&R studies without supervision.
• Use semi-automated measurement equipment (Optical and/or laser), including MicroVu and OGP systems.
• Interpret charts, graphs, and data.

Requirements

• Excellent mechanical aptitude with dimensional tolerance.
• Ability to interpret and use engineering drawings/schematics while understanding and applying GD&T.
• Understanding of the GR&R process.
• Experience with engineering drawings and schematics.
• Some knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis.
• Some experience with operation of semi-automated measurement equipment (Optical and/or laser).
• Understanding of shop mathematics (basic math required; trigonometry and geometry preferred).
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, specifically Excel).
• Ability to use basic functions of Minitab software.
• Must be able to complete 3-6 months of training on 1st shift (6:45 AM–4:00 PM) before moving to 2nd shift (2:45 PM–11:00 PM).

Nice to Have

• 1-3 years’ experience as a metrologist strongly preferred.
• Initiative and eagerness to learn.

Pay

$24.50/hour depending on skills and experience.

Schedule

• Training: 1st shift (6:45 AM–4:00 PM) for 3-6 months.
• Permanent: 2nd shift (2:45 PM–11:00 PM).
