Summary

The selected individual will be responsible for performing calibration, repair, and modifications of electrical and electronic standards related to instruments used for calibration. They will also perform dimensional calibrations, troubleshoot, repair maintenance, calibration, and certification traceable to the National Institute of Technology (NIST) on Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).

Responsibilities

  • Focal for calibration, repair, and modifications of electrical and electronic standards related to instruments used for calibration.
  • Perform dimensional calibrations, troubleshooting, repair maintenance, calibration, and certification traceable to the National Institute of Technology (NIST) on Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
  • Perform in-lab and on-site Pyrometry calibrations at Hexcel, Kent Valley facilities.
  • Make and maintain metrology measurements such as flow, mass, force, length, and time.
  • Repair and rework electrical and mechanical measuring instruments and standards by determining the nature and extent of damage, cause of malfunction, replacing defective parts and making adjustments to meet operational requirements.
  • Establish the accuracy of various mechanical and electrical measuring tools and standards.
  • Schedule and coordinate calibration activities with manufacturing, lab, and support personnel.
  • Record and analyze calibration data to develop appropriate correction factors.
  • Maintain quality records, records of test results and calibration schedules.
  • Focal for communication with customer(s), and participation in audits.
  • Comply with AS9100 & Nadcap standards.
  • Model safe working habits and champion safety in the workplace.
  • Operate at all times in compliance with the Hexcel Kent Quality System and Quality Policy.
  • Comply with Hexcel policies, procedures, and Code of Business Conduct.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences or Electronics preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician rating is a plus.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the operation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of electronic, electromechanical, standard and precision measuring equipment in a manufacturing and/or standards laboratory environment: or, equivalent technical training in the repair and calibration of precision measuring equipment, and the science of measurements (metrology).
  • Previous experience working under AS9100 or equivalent regulatory quality assurance program.
  • Excellent documentation skills required to generate written calibration procedures and maintenance of calibration databases, such as GageTrak.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift.
