Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and optimize automated inspection programs for OGP SmartScope and other vision/metrology systems to inspect precision components.
- Translate engineering drawings and GD&T callouts into robust inspection routines and measurement plans.
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) and generate detailed inspection reports to support PPAP and release activities.
- Implement and maintain measurement processes aligned with MSA, Gage R&R, and calibration requirements to ensure measurement traceability and repeatability.
- Create and maintain inspection documentation, including program files, process sheets, setup instructions, and tooling/fixture notes.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve non-conformances, troubleshoot inspection issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collect and analyze measurement data using SPC tools to monitor process stability and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Train and mentor inspection technicians and operators on program operation, part setup, and best practices for vision systems.
- Support continuous improvement projects to reduce inspection time, improve measurement reliability, and streamline PPAP/FAI workflows.
- Manage program revisions and maintain a repository of inspection routines and supporting documentation.
- Participate in equipment qualification, software upgrades, and validation activities for vision and metrology systems.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience programming automated inspection systems or vision/metrology equipment; experience with OGP SmartScope strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with First Article Inspections (FAI), PPAP processes, and preparing inspection reports for supplier and customer reviews.
- Practical experience with Gage R&R, MSA, SPC data collection and analysis, and use of statistical tools to drive process control.
- Familiarity with metrology software and data export formats, plus competency with Microsoft Excel and SPC software packages.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate measurement results and technical information clearly to cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage program revisions, and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Certifications such as ASQ CQT, CMM operator certification, or equivalent metrology/quality credentials are a plus.
