Metrology Junior Electronics Engineer

About the role

Sabre Systems is recruiting for a Metrology Junior Electronics Engineer to support the Metrology Department and the Navy’s Calibration Laboratory at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. This entry-level position supports senior engineers in designing, testing, and documenting electronic systems and components to ensure military equipment and measurement systems are accurate and calibrated per standards. The role uses measurement science and techniques to ensure the accuracy and precision of electronic devices, components, and systems, following strict procedures within the Navy’s Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) program, critical for naval readiness and weapons systems performance.

Responsibilities

• Work under the guidance of experienced senior engineers supporting the Navy’s Metrology Department.
• Apply engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate physical electronic components and systems.
• Calibrate instruments, design test equipment, troubleshoot issues, and implement quality assurance processes for products like semiconductors and circuit boards.
• Perform testing and validation on electronics components and systems to ensure products meet quality and performance standards.
• Perform calculations, work with electronics equipment, and contribute to the full lifecycle of hardware development, testing, and production.
• Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other engineering documentation.
• Analyze measurement data and maintain accurate records of all results and calibrations.
• Record problems of significant complexity that may require resolution at a higher level and prepare test reports.
• Support quality control by verifying compliance with Navy’s METCAL standards.
• Apply methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects, construct experimental or prototype models, conduct tests or experiments, develop or implement redesigns, and record and evaluate data.

Requirements

• Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree; Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering degree, or related field is required.
• 0-3 years of experience.
• Proficiency with electronics, IT systems, and electronics design software is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Hands-on ability to work with tools and components.
• SECRET security clearance required.

Work Location

100% on-site at the Navy Calibration Laboratory, NAS Patuxent River, MD.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $90,000.00, based on qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements.
