About the role
CFS is seeking a motivated Metrology Engineer to develop, validate, and deploy inspection methods for highly engineered hardware supporting the SPARC project. The role involves working hands-on with complex parts and advanced measurement systems, collaborating with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Quality, and R&D to ensure hardware meets demanding performance and reliability requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine advanced mechanical inspection techniques to solve complex measurement challenges
- Qualify and document inspection methods in partnership with Quality Engineering (procedures, work instructions, and evidence of capability)
- Collaborate daily with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to support production readiness and rapid issue resolution
- Support evaluation and selection of new metrology equipment and technologies, including ROI, capability, and implementation planning
- Maintain metrology equipment and standards; execute 5S and calibration/verification activities as applicable
- Provide design-for-inspection input during drawing release, GD&T definition, and development of inspection standards
- Cross-train as a Quality Technician and perform routine inspections as needed to support throughput
- Design and procure inspection fixturing and tooling to enable accurate, repeatable measurements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience in lieu of a degree
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or field environment
- Demonstrated experience developing advanced metrology/inspection techniques
- Strong communication skills, including presenting technical information to broad audiences
- Ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and apply GD&T
- Working knowledge of standard machining and fabrication processes
- Experience programming metrology and/or manufacturing equipment
- CAD design experience (Siemens NX preferred)
- Working knowledge of quality systems fundamentals
- Comfort using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) or similar collaboration platforms
Skills
- PolyWorks Inspector experience
- Hands-on experience with a range of metrology equipment and measurement approaches
- Experience creating and implementing procedures, work instructions, and training materials
- Familiarity with statistical quality tools (e.g., gage R&R, DOE)
- Quality experience in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, medical)
- Experience working as a field metrologist or supporting on-site measurements

Pay
$80,000 - $130,000 (includes 15% shift differential)
Schedule
Shift: Monday through Friday, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am
