Methadone Counselor
Job Summary
The position provides counseling to individuals receiving integrated substance abuse treatment and primary care at the Substance Abuse Treatment Program.
Essential Functions
- Comprehensive psychosocial assessment upon admission.
- Instruct patients on program policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement treatment plans on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Provide substance abuse counseling focusing on building motivation, education, planning, crisis intervention, relapse prevention, and aftercare.
- Coordinate comprehensive services within the clinic for patients on counseling caseload.
- Maintain required records on patients and update progress notes as required.
- Assist patients with referrals to other services and agencies determined to be necessary to the recovery process.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings and perform follow-ups to billing.
- Visit patients in hospital and assist with linkage between services.
- Meet with family members, significant others, and outside providers as necessary for clinical management and care.
Competencies
Counselors will define and assess competencies through addiction-specific competencies.
Qualifications
- One year’s work experience as an addiction’s counselor (preferably with methadone clients).
- A BA or BS degree required.
- CASAC or license in social work, mental health counseling, or a related field is also required.
- Twelve core functions of counselors (1-3 years work experience as an addictions counselor, preferably with Methadone Clients).
Work Shift
Day work, Monday to Friday, 10 AM-6:30 PM, 7.5 hours per day.
Pay
Hiring rate is $36.45 per hour, subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education, or other relevant factors.
