Responsibilities

  • Installs new meters and regulators.
  • Performs meter changes for customers.
  • Responds to and investigates gas odor complaints and gas leaks.
  • Utilizes and maintains gas detection equipment.
  • Verifies customer equipment is safe and complies with applicable codes.
  • Processes disconnection of service for non-payment.
  • Works with customer service to investigate high and/or low bill complaints.
  • Assists Gas Operations Supervisor and Compliance Manager with Public Service Commission audits.
  • Assists with completing compliance-related requirements timely utilizing work order management system.
  • Assists with material procurement for the department.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of NFPA 54 (National Association of Fire Prevention).
  • Knowledge of regulator and meter troubleshooting, sizing, and function.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, manuals, code, and parts diagrams.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of employees and customers.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Skills

  • Skilled in the safe operation of hand tools and working with diagnostic tools.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions

  • Outside, customer premises, and minimal office time.
  • Working around potentially flammable substances.
  • Able to lift 20 to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Adverse weather conditions and dogs.
  • On-call rotation to cover 24-hour response for gas leaks.
