Responsibilities
- Installs new meters and regulators.
- Performs meter changes for customers.
- Responds to and investigates gas odor complaints and gas leaks.
- Utilizes and maintains gas detection equipment.
- Verifies customer equipment is safe and complies with applicable codes.
- Processes disconnection of service for non-payment.
- Works with customer service to investigate high and/or low bill complaints.
- Assists Gas Operations Supervisor and Compliance Manager with Public Service Commission audits.
- Assists with completing compliance-related requirements timely utilizing work order management system.
- Assists with material procurement for the department.
Requirements
- Knowledge of NFPA 54 (National Association of Fire Prevention).
- Knowledge of regulator and meter troubleshooting, sizing, and function.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, manuals, code, and parts diagrams.
- Ability to communicate with various levels of employees and customers.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Skills
- Skilled in the safe operation of hand tools and working with diagnostic tools.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions
- Outside, customer premises, and minimal office time.
- Working around potentially flammable substances.
- Able to lift 20 to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Adverse weather conditions and dogs.
- On-call rotation to cover 24-hour response for gas leaks.
