Meteorologist (Part Time)
About the role
9NEWS in Denver is looking for an expert to cover the most interesting weather in the world on our weekend morning newscasts. Colorado is a year-round weather state with frequent winter storms, severe weather in the spring and summer, and fires and floods that can happen any time. This is a part-time, as-needed role.
Responsibilities
- Predict the future, in terms of what's going to happen with weather today, tonight, tomorrow, and next week.
- Prepare and present multiple weather reports in a day, using all the resources available to us including graphics, video, and live cameras provided by the 9NEWS staff as well as user-generated content.
- Interact with other members of the on-air staff to produce a superior viewing experience.
- Present weather on multiple platforms including 9NEWS.com, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and live video on our OTT channel when conditions warrant.
- This position is a part-time fill-in as needed.
- Covering weather news and turning packages will be another responsibility in this role.
- During weather events, this position will require weather reporting in the elements.
Requirements
- Three to five years of experience as an On-Air Broadcast Meteorologist is required.
- A degree in Meteorology and a certification from the National Weather Service or the American Meteorological Society is preferred.
- The ability to produce and deliver smooth on-air weather reports several times each day is required.
Pay Range
$45 - $50 USD
