Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment by complying with safety rules and procedures
- Prepare custom metal alloys, melt and cast, prepare samples, and test sample preparation
- Perform physical, chemical, and electrical property testing on metallic rod/wire samples
- Perform physical, chemical, and electrical property testing on cable samples
- Perform metallographic analysis of metallic samples
- Perform root cause analysis for metallic failure samples
- Use analytical tools to identify metal composition and chemistry
- Maintain records and issue reports on test results generated
- Active participation in ITC Tech Service activities such as facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping, safety audits, etc.
- Able to lift and carry by hand various tools, materials, containers usually small to moderate in size

Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
- The ability to accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects; organize work into logical process steps; use time effectively; and establish priorities
- The ability to work as an individual or as a team
- Demonstrates sound technical skills and attention to detail
- The ability to cross-train in all laboratory equipment and procedures
- The ability to gather specific information to understand issues and use good problem-solving techniques
- Capable of recording/taking electrical measurements, i.e. capacitance and dissipation, insulation resistance, using a multimeter
- Able to speak concisely and articulately; asks open-ended questions
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Associates Degree in Metals Technology or related engineering or technical field
