Metallurgy Lab Technician - 3rd Shift

About the role

This is a second (3rd) shift position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for Cut & Etch: Plasma Cutting, Wet Saw, Polishing & Etching (Acid).
• Perform Destructive Cut & Etch testing on production MIG welds.
• Capture images and measure weld features using computerized software.
• Perform Rockwell hardness testing as required (infrequent).
• Perform destructive & non-destructive testing on Resistance Spot welds and Resistance Projection nuts/studs.
• Manage Discrepant Weld Reports including emailing and the generation/data entry/saving of reports in Excel.
• Document, file, and maintain in-process inspection reports.
• Assist others as assigned.
• Conduct oneself in a professional and technical manner that positively impacts the Quality Department and the company as a whole.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of general or specific experience in this field (desired).
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook).
• Welding & Plasma Cutting experience (desired).
• Ability to travel and stay overnight on occasion.
