Summary Of The Metallurgist Role

The Foundry Metallurgist collaborates with Engineering, Sales, and Operations to ensure the production of high-quality castings that meet customer, performance, and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include specifying materials and heat treatment procedures, supporting alloy development and maintenance, analyzing melt chemistry, and reviewing heat conformance. The role involves developing new alloys, troubleshooting metallurgical issues, advising customers on alloy performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. It also supports continuous improvement initiatives, supplier qualification, and material audits.

Qualifications

• a bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, with 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM
• Strong analytical skills
• A proactive attitude
