Responsibilities
- Perform skilled metal refinishing work, including surface preparation, grinding, sanding, polishing, coating, painting, and corrosion control in accordance with division standards.
- Inspect metal components and structures to assess condition, determine refinishing requirements, and recommend appropriate repair or treatment methods.
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and refinishing equipment; ensure proper use of materials and adherence to safety protocols.
- Cook safely transport tools, materials, and personnel to job sites as required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors to coordinate work and resolve issues.
- Comply with all safety regulations, environmental requirements, and departmental policies.
- Document completed work, materials used, and labor hours as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized journeyman-level apprenticeship program in metal maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate an assigned work truck.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in metal maintenance.
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision and managing assigned tasks from start to completion.
- Demonstrated experience performing metal refinishing work, including surface preparation, coating, painting, polishing, and corrosion control.
- Working knowledge of shop and field safety practices, including proper handling of tools, equipment, chemicals, and materials.
- Strong attention to quality, detail, and workmanship.
