Met Lab Technician

About the role

This role involves preparing and evaluating cubicle qualification samples (tab samples), sample parts and customer hardware (part cut ups), and physical properties (e.g. hardness - micro and macro). Additionally, you will perform set-ups, operate a variety of standard lab equipment, calibrate and maintain lab equipment, order supplies, and conduct quality evaluations of standard coatings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and evaluate cubicle qualification samples (tab samples)
• Prepare and evaluate sample parts and customer hardware (part cut ups)
• Evaluate physical properties (e.g. Hardness – Micro and Macro)
• Perform set-ups and operate a variety of standard lab equipment
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment
• Order all Met Lab supplies including polishing suspensions, grit paper, etc.
• Perform quality evaluations of standard coatings in a timely manner, identifying problem areas and reporting results to appropriate individuals
• Keep accurate record keeping for all of the above

Requirements

• A High School Diploma / GED is required
• You must complete Linde Metallurgical Technician Training and maintain certification
• You must have experience performing quality evaluations of standard coatings and basic investigations into metallurgical issues
• You must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends and holidays as needed
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills are required

• Minimum 5 years' related lab experience
