Messaging Engineer

About the role

A mid-level Email/Messaging Engineer is needed for our Rockville, MD (remote) based team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange (on-premises and Online), Active Directory, and hybrid configurations.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on experience with DMARC, SPF, DKIM, email authentication, SMTP, DNS, and Microsoft 365 compliance tools.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot mail flow, manage directory synchronization, and enhance email security in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange Online, Exchange Server, Active Directory, and hybrid Exchange environments.
• Knowledge of DMARC, SPF, DKIM configuration, email authentication, SMTP, DNS, and PowerShell.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 compliance tools such as E-discovery, E-Fax, ListServ, and Directory synchronization.
• Expertise in enhancing email security and hygiene using tools like Cisco ESA, Email Threat Defense, and Microsoft Defender for Office 365.

Requirements

• Proven experience in managing and maintaining Microsoft Exchange on-premises and Online systems.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory and hybrid configurations.
• Experience with email authentication protocols (DMARC, SPF, DKIM).
• Knowledge of SMTP, DNS, and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 compliance tools and features.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex email flow issues.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in IT, with at least 3 years in an engineering or technical role.
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft 365.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including DNS, SMTP, and Active Directory.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and other administrative tools.
