Mercury Marine: Accounting Intern
Position Overview
As part of the talented Central Accounting team, you will obtain hands-on experience with month-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives within a fast-paced accounting environment. You work closely with accounting and finance teams while gaining exposure to corporate accounting processes and internal controls. Essential Functions
- Assist with monthly fixed asset accounting activities, including asset additions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
- Support physical asset verification projects and fixed asset audits.
- Support intercompany accounting processes, including recording and reconciling intercompany transactions.
- Assist with monthly & quarterly close activities.
- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting journal entries.
- Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Assist with special projects, reporting requests, and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with company accounting policies, internal controls, and U.S. GAAP requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
- Availability to work full-time (40 or more hours per week) during the months May through August of 2027.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent academic standing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Junior or senior standing in an Accounting or Finance program.
- Prior internship, co-op, or accounting-related work experience.
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control concepts.
- Continuous improvement mindset and interest in process automation.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $18.00-27.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
