Position Summary
The (USA) Merchant develops and executes category strategies that drive financial performance and customer satisfaction across multiple channels. This role oversees pricing, promotions, supplier negotiations, and assortment planning while managing profit and loss for a moderately complex category. The Merchant collaborates cross-functionally to align channel strategies, optimize inventory, and enhance the customer experience. Leading a team, this position supports continuous improvement through data-driven insights, operational excellence, and adherence to company policies, ensuring sustainable growth and value delivery in a dynamic retail environment.
About the team
The team focuses on developing customer-centered strategies that guide merchandising assortment selection for the seasonal candy category. They analyze market trends, customer behavior, and financial data to optimize product offerings and pricing. Collaborating closely with suppliers and cross-functional partners, the team drives category growth and profitability. Members manage assortment planning, promotional activities, and inventory decisions while supporting operational execution. The team fosters a results-driven environment that values adaptability, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement to deliver exceptional customer experiences and meet business objectives effectively.
What you'll do
Develop and execute category strategies aligned with long-term business objectives.
Manage profit and loss, analyze financial performance, and implement pricing and promotional strategies.
Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate terms, drive price leadership, and ensure supplier execution.
Oversee assortment planning, modular layouts, and product placement across channels.
Utilize data analysis to inform decisions and optimize category performance.
Lead and develop team members, setting performance expectations and fostering a productive work environment.
Support omni-channel customer experience by integrating customer insights into category plans.
Drive execution of business plans, removing obstacles and adjusting strategies as needed.
What you'll bring
Proven experience in category and channel strategy development for moderately complex categories.
Strong financial management skills, including profit and loss ownership and financial forecasting.
Expertise in supplier management and negotiation to drive price leadership and profitability.
Ability to analyze customer behavior, competition, and industry trends to inform decisions.
Demonstrated team management capabilities, including coaching, performance evaluation, and development.
Proficiency in assortment planning, pricing strategies, and promotional merchandise execution.
Data-driven mindset with experience leveraging analytics to influence business plans and category performance.
Adaptability and problem-solving skills to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement.
Additional Compensation
Annual salary range: $90,000.00 - $180,000.00

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or related field and 3 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include : Stock
