Merchant Banking Associate
About the role
Piper Sandler is seeking an experienced Associate/Analyst to join the Piper Sandler Merchant Banking (PSMB) team in Minneapolis, MN. PSMB is a growth equity investor currently investing out of its fourth fund, focused on helping businesses grow and succeed by leveraging the firm’s knowledge, experience, and relationships.
Responsibilities
- Create and iterate complex financial models
- Conduct financial valuations and build return models for potential new investments
- Work with senior members of the Merchant Banking team to evaluate and conduct due diligence on potential new investments
- Prepare investment memoranda
- Prepare quarterly valuation reports
- Prepare quarterly and annual reports for limited partners
- Maintain the Merchant Banking deal pipeline and transaction records

Requirements
- Minimum two years of Investment Banking, buy-side, or related financial experience
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and learn quickly
- Detail-oriented and analytical mindset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience with financial modeling or formal training
- Positive attitude with a desire to work with and contribute to the culture of a close-knit team
- Bachelor’s degree

Pay
The anticipated starting salary for Minneapolis-based individuals is $100,000 per year, with compensation dependent on experience. This position is also eligible for annual incentive compensation, making total compensation competitive with the market.
