About the Role
This position is responsible for co-development and execution of product strategies and increasing sales and profitability of assigned specific product categories through correct product selection, display, price, and promotions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration preferred (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
- Five years of merchandising experience
- Knowledge of general merchandising and inventory management experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate to advance level Excel)
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
Responsibilities
- Developing category plans based on the strategic plan and ensuring your team executes product strategies that align with overall business objectives.
- Owning the full category buying lifecycle, including sourcing, assortment planning, purchasing, analysis, product selection, advertising and promotions, and planogram development.
- Leading the buying process by building strong vendor partnerships, selecting products, negotiating terms, planning promotions, and collaborating with inventory and store planning teams to ensure products are in stock and merchandised according to planograms. Overseeing team processes to drive consistency and high-quality execution.
- Creating and executing promotional strategies across the category while ensuring alignment with broader category goals and initiatives.
- Establishing category and individual performance objectives, providing leadership and accountability to ensure your team consistently meets established goals.
Working Conditions
Moderate to extensive travel required including air and car travel. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
