Merchandising Sales Associate
About the role
This position is part of the Field Activity Support Team (FAST), primarily based in a single store. You will own and execute “start to finish” variable tasks such as planograms, signage, and price changes, while also supporting other tasks including merchandise and fixture assembly and maintaining all signage. The role involves interacting with customers and team members to provide legendary customer service.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts based on business needs.
- Communicate proactively with the District FAST Supervisor and Store Operations regarding work completion, issues, and solutions.
- Complete planograms and resets accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain visual merchandise standards.
- Perform project-related measurements and store layout initiatives.
- Complete store price changes accurately and promptly.
- Install, update, and maintain store signage, including circulars, price cuts, and managers’ specials.
- Assemble merchandise, fixtures, and PDQs.
- Perform recovery and review planogram integrity.
- Prioritize customer interactions and provide legendary customer service using GURA: Greet the Customer, Uncover the Customers’ needs, Recommend products, Ask for the Sale.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment for team members and customers, adhering to company safety training and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Prior retail and/or merchandising experience is required.
- Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
Skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
- Self-directed with the ability to complete assignments with little or no assistance.
Working Conditions
- Indoor floors and outdoor lots are generally hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt). Lighting and temperature are adequate.
- Work shifts vary by store but are generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 10 hours.
- Working environment is favorable, typically inside with moderate noise.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to be near or around birds/poultry.
- Frequent standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
- Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store.
- Ability to move throughout the store for an entire shift.
- Occasional lifting or reaching merchandise overhead.
- Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
- Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete documentation.
- Ability to successfully complete all required training.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
This is a non-sedentary position involving kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching overhead, sitting, standing (not walking), and walking.
