Merchandising Assistant, Pre-Owned Business

Key Responsibilities

  • Aid the pre-owned team in creating, setting up, and tracking all pre-owned stock keeping units (SKUs).
  • Create and distribute weekly merchandising reports.
  • Support the implementation of price changes.
  • Maintain and create Bill of Materials (BOMs) to facilitate product movement through the refurbishment process.
  • Create and track purchase orders for external product purchases.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure timely allocation and shipment of product from the warehouse.
  • Coordinate promotional request submissions.
  • Assist Merchants and other merchandising personnel as needed.
  • Manage relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization, adhering consistently with all organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with Buyers, Analysts, Logistics, Accounting, Marketing, and other departments to achieve goals, simplify processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and on time.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, merchandising, or a related field from an accredited program is preferred.
  • Additional education in retail merchandising, buying, marketing, and business analytics is a plus.
  • One to two years of related professional experience are preferred; closely related work experience may be used as a substitute.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Windows-based business computers and Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced quantitative analysis, financial analysis, and budget forecasting skills.
  • Effective vendor or external partner management skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting financial statements such as P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to predict and manage behavior, build and leverage cross-functional partnerships, and influence leadership.
  • Effective presentation skills to effectively communicate information to various audiences within the company.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
