Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the merchandising analytics intern is to support initiatives that directly impact revenue and profitability across the Merchandising and Operations Departments. This individual will contribute to the vision, goal setting, implementation, and delivery of merchandising analytics and assist the Category Management Team in maximizing sales, profit, or units.
- Support the creation and maintenance of merchandising rules or policies
- Analyze volume, revenue, and profit data to determine financial impact of merchandising scenarios
- Coordinate with Category Management to ensure alignment with category and merchandising rules or strategies
- Support any existing and future reporting or analytical needs
- Assemble and review KPIs that support Merchandising efforts
- Utilize the BI platform and Microsoft Excel to analyze sales, purchasing, and inventory patterns
- Produce regular scorecard and sales trend reporting
- Assist and/or lead in providing solutions for various departments within Love’s
- Seek synergy with other departments in setting cost-saving initiatives
- Collaborate with Category Management in defining, forecasting, and analyzing possible merchandising actions
Requirements
- Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as Finance, Economics, Marketing, or Business Administration
Skills
- Ability to devise an analytical approach to solving business problems
- Understanding of basic pricing concepts such as price elasticities, promotional uplift, cannibalization, and affinities
- General understanding of the retail business environment
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
