Merchandiser Assistant I
About the Role
The Merchandiser Assistant I supports proper accounting and control procedures, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and adherence to all company and division policies. This role assists with vendor management related to A/P and A/R, including invoice management and statement reconciliation, and serves as a key point of contact for routine vendor communications. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and communicate in a professional, customer service-focused manner with customers and suppliers. This position offers opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute by identifying process improvements and supporting changes that drive positive business outcomes.
- Partner with Merchandisers and Controllers to provide timely and accurate records for product and freight positions.
- Deliver excellent service to customers and vendors, including timely processing of payments and resolution of problems.
- Actively monitor and create Account Receivables, Account Payables, Freight Analysis, and other miscellaneous reports on a daily/weekly basis and resolve issues.
- Maintain an organized digital filing system for invoices, contracts, reports, and payment receipts.
- Reconcile inventory balances with 3rd party locations monthly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s degree preferred).
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proactively recommend process efficiencies and creative solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proven organization skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of basic accounting principles, especially accounts payable.
- Knowledge of commodities or agricultural industry experience.
- 2 years of office experience.
