Merchandise Manager

About the role

The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing daily store operations, staff management, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Manage receiving, unpacking, and organization of new stock for efficient placement on the sales floor.
• Set up and maintain displays, signage, and promotions following corporate guidelines.
• Handle opening and closing procedures, including securing cash, locking doors, and setting alarms.
• Act as Manager on Duty when required, overseeing staff, operations, and addressing urgent issues.
• Supervise daily activities of associates, ensuring effective performance and excellent customer service.
• Support onboarding and ongoing training to improve staff knowledge and performance.
• Drive sales and control expenses through merchandising, staff performance, and customer engagement.
• Execute market plans by arranging products and signage appropriately, ensuring inventory accuracy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; college experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years management experience.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, think creatively, and maintain composure under pressure.
• Physical ability to operate cash registers, move merchandise, ascend ladders, and perform physical tasks.
• Flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts.
• Excellent at exchanging information with customers, team members, and managers.

Additional Requirements

Must be able to work in a stationary position most of the time, handle merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs, and follow safety and operational procedures.
