About This Opportunity

Okland is looking for a tenured MEP Superintendent to lead the coordination and field installation process for MEP systems and guide the complexities and intricacies of the buyout process. This person will have deep knowledge of mechanical systems and how they integrate vertical construction for hospitals, clean rooms, laboratories and similar projects. The ideal candidate is a champion of quality and has the utmost pride in ensuring the high standards for these systems are exceeded while continually striving to simplify the nuances of a complex process to all involved in its success.

Management and Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises and oversees assigned projects
  • Aids Preconstruction Manager, MEP Manager, and onsite Project Management Team
  • Handles any personnel issues that may arise on assigned projects
  • Interface with CxA to ensure the Cx process is being executed to meet project expectations
  • Construction Phase: Reviews MEP submittals, scopes of work, material/equipment technical submittals, and validates specification compliance
  • Enforces quality control plan
  • Aids in the development of the MEP Construction and Commissioning Schedule
  • Oversees MEP installation
  • Coordinates equipment startup and communicates startup dates with CxA
  • Aids in the MEP punch list phase of project
  • Schedules Management: Coordinates with the superintendent on MEP trade progress, attends weekly Cx schedule meetings, and ensures project meets commissioning goals and requirements
  • Personnel Management: Works with the project team to establish goals and develop accountability, attends regular staff meetings, reviews RFI’s, ASI’s, CCD’s, etc., and reviews potential schedule and cost impacts relating to MEP/Cx
  • Subcontractor Management: Maintains good working relationships with subcontractor’s onsite management team, leads weekly subcontractor Cx meetings, and communicates project deadlines

Requirements

  • Hold a Professional License in Mechanical Engineering, MEP trade certification, or a bachelor’s degree in construction management.
  • Bring 5–10 years of experience in commercial mechanical construction, with hands-on expertise managing complex building systems, including:
    • Plumbing & Piping Systems – Installation, coordination, and quality control of water distribution, drainage, and gas piping systems.
    • HVAC Systems – Implementation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning solutions, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and system integration.
    • Fire Protection & Suppression Systems – Oversight of fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, and fire safety measures to meet code requirements.
    • Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems – Coordination of fire detection, alarm, and emergency response systems for proper installation and operation.
    • Temperature Control & Building Automation – Integration of advanced control systems for climate regulation, energy efficiency, and automated building operations.
  • Maintain OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, applicable local, state, and federal building codes, and skilled repair and installation procedures.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in construction scheduling, cost control, and proactive risk planning to consistently meet or exceed project deadlines.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, and team members at all levels, always maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Lead and manage teams with confidence, stay highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize competing tasks in fast-paced environments.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills to navigate practical challenges with limited standardization.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
