Summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced MEP Project Engineer II to join their team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to interact with various staff at all levels, remain flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient, and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons
  • Implement the pre-construction quality plan
  • Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring permit expenses
  • Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Non-Conformance Report
  • Manage, create, and distribute contract documents
  • Lead and direct the 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installation
  • Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase
  • Manage all aspects of testing and inspection processes for construction quality management
  • Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and off-site testing procedures
  • Notify Project Manager and Superintendent of non-conforming test results or inspection items
  • Aid in the commissioning process, including startup plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing
  • Manage submittals: set up register, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing
  • Communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers
  • Issue submittal requirement letters
  • Cookordinate subcontractor details: verify insurance, prepare paperwork, request final payment
  • Lead project closeout activities: operations and maintenance manuals, model turnover, training
  • Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders
  • Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents
  • Determine alternative work methods as needed
  • Cookordinate safety and compliance for all team members
  • Maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
  • Prominent positive and professional attitude and customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
  • Minimum three years construction experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor
  • Current driver’s license

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $93,400 - $126,100. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.

Schedule

This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
