Summary
Mortenson is seeking an experienced MEP Project Engineer II to interact with various staff in a dynamic environment, focusing on project coordination and execution.Responsibilities
- Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons
- Implement the pre-construction quality plan
- Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring permit expenses
- Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Non-Conformance Report
- Develop equipment coordination, furnishings, fixtures matrices, and coordination matrix for source sizing, compatibility, and control
- Manage, create, and distribute contract documents
- Lead and direct the 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installation
- Establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence)
- Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phase
- Manage all aspects of testing and inspection processes for construction quality management
- Implement three-phase inspection system
- Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and off-site testing procedures
- Notify Project Manager and Superintendent of non-conforming test results or inspection items
- Aid in the commissioning process, including startup plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testing
- Manage submittals: set up register, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processing
- Expedite submittals to align with project schedule
- Communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliers
- Issue submittal requirement letters
- Provide periodic updates of submittal register to customer or architect
- Care for subcontractor details: verify insurance, prepare paperwork, request final payment
- Lead project closeout activities: operations and maintenance manuals, model turnover, training
- Develop and distribute RFIs and Change Orders
- Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documents
- Incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation into contract document updates
- Determine alternative work methods as needed
- Cookordination safety and compliance for all team members
- Maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completion
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
- Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
- Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Minimum three years construction experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor
- Current driver’s license
