Job Summary
The MEP Assistant Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent and Senior Superintendent in managing field operations for mission-critical data center projects. This role is ideal for a highly organized and proactive individual with a strong foundation in construction coordination, safety enforcement, and subcontractor management. The MEP Assistant Superintendent plays a key part in driving project progress, maintaining site safety, and supporting the successful delivery of technically complex infrastructure in the field.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Support the Project Superintendent in supervising field operations, ensuring alignment with schedule, safety, and quality goals.
- Cook up daily construction activities among subcontractors, suppliers, and field engineers.
- Conduct daily site walks to monitor safety, cleanliness, and work quality.
- Ensure adherence to site-specific safety plans and enforce compliance with OSHA, client-specific requirements.
- Lead daily morning huddles and support weekly trade coordination meetings.
- Aid in implementing the Last Planner System including look-ahead planning, constraint removal, and PPC tracking.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, safety logs, and field documentation.
- Support installation verification for MEP systems, structural elements, and finish scopes.
- Coordinate inspections and manage field punchlists with the QA/QC and commissioning teams.
- Aid in managing material deliveries, laydown planning, and on-site logistics.
- Help enforce jobsite organization and secure work areas in line with lean construction principles.
- Perform and verify field measurements to validate installation tolerances and conformance to approved documents.
- Support site coordination efforts including utility conflicts, slab penetrations, and rough-in inspections.
- Aid in field layout verification based on submittals, shop drawings, and as-built conditions.
- Coordinate with city inspectors, special inspectors, and third-party consultants to ensure compliance with code and inspection requirements.
Education, Experience, And Licensing/Certifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction, preferably in mission-critical or MEP-intensive projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems including medium voltage distribution, UPS, switchgear, and grounding.
- Understanding of commissioning processes, IST protocols, and startup procedures.
- OSHA 30-hour Safety Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
