About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager – MEP to join our project team. This is an individual role but involves supporting project leadership in managing MEP trade partners, design coordination, schedule integration, budget tracking, and quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of all MEP systems throughout design and construction.
- Aid field personnel in verifying MEP installations are in accordance with contract documents, specifications, code requirements, and project standards.
- Process and ensure compliance of MEP-related subcontracts, purchase orders, change orders, and procurement activities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Cookordinate effectively with architects, engineers, consultants, and trade partners to ensure MEP systems are fully integrated within the project design.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, clash detection meetings, and BIM/VDC coordination efforts.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating project risks related to MEP systems, long-lead equipment, utility requirements, and commissioning activities.
- Track MEP budgets, forecasts, and cost impacts while supporting value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist in developing procurement strategies for major MEP equipment and materials.
- Monitor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, testing requirements, startup activities, and commissioning documentation.
- Coordinate MEP activities with overall project milestones and construction sequencing.
- Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and owners.
- Understand and implement Beck's Health & Safety program.
- Support project turnover activities including training, warranty management, closeout documentation, and owner handoff.
- Effectively supervise and mentor Project Engineers, Interns, and other team members as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant construction, MEP coordination, commissioning, or project management experience.
- College graduate with a relevant degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building systems.
- Experience using Excel, Procore, Bluebeam, CMiC, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, Synchro, and other construction technologies is preferred.
- Experience coordinating MEP trade partners and managing design and construction documentation.
Qualifications
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
- Occasional need to ascend/descend ladders and stairs.
- Frequent movement of equipment up to 50 lbs. to various locations on site.
- Constantly communicating with subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and project team members.
- Constantly moving throughout active construction sites.
- Ability to adhere to consistent and timely attendance.
