About the role
Mentor Coach Manager positions at UMOS provide critical support to teachers and staff in center and family childcare sites. This role involves conducting observations, developing individualized learning plans, and providing mentor coaching to enhance teaching skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct center and family childcare site observations to promote developmentally appropriate practices and sound program approaches.
- Develop and document professional development plans for assigned staff.
- Provide training and technical assistance on a range of early learning and child development topics.
- Engage in reflective inquiry and lead small group meetings to discuss curriculum planning, implementation, and ongoing assessment.
- Implement a research-based coaching strategy for education staff.
- Assist with the collection and tracking of child progress data.
- Support the implementation of inclusive practices for all enrolled children, including those with disabilities.
- Participate in Program Self-Assessment, internal quality assurance reviews, and other activities to promote continuous quality improvement.
- Perform classroom teacher duties as necessary.
- Ensure children are supervised at all times and maintain staff-child ratios.
- Monitor classroom practices and implement active supervision techniques.
- Engage parents in their children's education by encouraging classroom involvement and home activities.
- Attend Center and Regional staff meetings, case reviews, trainings, open houses, and other program activities as assigned.
- Report suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with state law and UMOS policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
- At least 5 years of classroom experience and/or a combination of 3 years of classroom experience and 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Preferred 1 year of experience involving parent/adult education, college, or preschool instruction, which included program planning, organizing, and adult education and training.
- Adult learner presentation/training experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written preferred).
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with adequate insurance.
- Able to work irregular hours with travel required.
Qualifications
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Complete physical exam and TB test.
- Complete Shaken Baby Training.
- Complete Infant/Child CPR and First Aid.
- Register with State Childcare Registry (WI or MO).
- Complete online training modules and become reliable in Teaching Strategies Gold.
- Register for CLASS Reliable or become CLASS Reliable within 180 days of employment.
