Mental Health Worker - Inpatient Behavioral Health - Per Diem
About the Role
Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a Behavioral Health Technician to join our mission-driven healthcare team on the Behavioral Health Unit at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, CT. This role is key to keeping patients engaged in recovery-oriented activities, communicating patient needs to the clinical team, monitoring patient safety, and working with nursing professionals to create a healing environment.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient observations and other patient care activities.
- Observes patient behavior.
- Performs, reports, and documents vital signs and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Responds rapidly to emergency call lights and performs safety checks.
- Provides group and individual interventions to assist psychiatric patients toward recovery and rehabilitation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent with related experience required; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
- AHA CPR/BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.
- Possesses a broad practical understanding of life experiences and the ability to relate to emotionally ill individuals.
- Prior experience in a psychiatric setting is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
