About the role

As a Mental Health Worker, you will serve on the front lines of patient care, helping ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals receiving treatment. You will observe, assess, and document patients' physical, emotional, and social well-being, communicating important changes to the nursing and clinical teams to support timely interventions and quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Promote patient safety through vigilant observation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Build therapeutic relationships that support recovery and reinforce patient-centered care.
  • Assist patients with daily activities while encouraging independence, dignity, and engagement in their treatment plans.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to signs of distress, anxiety, or behavioral changes.
  • Record vital signs and other key clinical information that informs multidisciplinary treatment decisions.
  • Contribute to a culture of compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement in patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association - AHA)
  • Maintenance of Basic Life Support certification
  • Demonstrate commitment to continued learning & orientation completion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aspiration to careers or degrees in social work or psychiatry
  • College degree
  • At least one year of psychiatry-related experience

Schedule

This is a full-time, 8-hour, day/evening rotational shift position (7:00 am - 11:30 pm), including working rotating weekends (Saturday/Sunday).

Pay

Salary Range: $30.65 - $36.15/hour

Please note that this role requires on-site presence, so all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
