About the role

The Mental Health Worker Aide position within the Children's Mental Health Division plays a crucial role in supporting children and youth experiencing severe mental illness. This role involves assisting families, particularly those with limited English proficiency, in accessing and navigating mental health services. The position requires a strong understanding of community resources and the ability to act as a liaison between families and various service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide family support and accompany parents to meetings as needed.
  • Connect families with local resources and make appropriate referrals.
  • Model professional collaboration with professionals and other stakeholders.
  • Afford families with the skills to advocate for their child's needs independently.
  • Ensure families receive transportation and interpretation services as needed.
  • Participate in family team meetings and engage in community outreach activities.
  • Write timely clinical progress notes and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Use computer databases effectively and comply with agency policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • No direct experience required, but relevant personal experience in accessing mental health services is highly valued.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A valid California Driver's License.

Qualifications

This position does not require a specific degree or certification, but experience in mental health services and a strong commitment to serving diverse communities are essential.

Benefits

Napa County offers competitive salaries and benefits, including 32 hours of winter time off and the opportunity to become a Disaster Service Worker during emergencies. Additional benefits are available for public service employees.

Pay

Salaries are based on a five-step range, with appointments usually starting at the beginning step and advancing after six months and each completed year. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
