Mental Health Therapist, PRN, Weekends Mostly

PRN (as-needed) position covering weekends and some weekdays for staff PTO and other coverage. Full licensure highly preferred.

About the Role

Our 62-bed Behavioral Health Unit is seeking compassionate mental health clinicians to care for patients with psychiatric illnesses. Our recovery-oriented program provides opportunities for professional growth in a collaborative care environment.

• 62-bed Inpatient Psychiatric Center
• Adult Psych Unit (ages 18-64)
• Geriatric Psych Unit (ages 65 and older; patients require total care)
• Intensive Outpatient Program
• ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy)

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric and/or chemical dependency counseling services to patients admitted to inpatient units.
• Conduct individual, group, marital, and family therapy/counseling in various psychiatric settings.
• Perform psychosocial assessments and treatment planning.
• Develop discharge plans including linkage to community resources, referral sources, and post-discharge care providers.
• Provide referrals for extended treatment or outpatient follow-up.
• Conduct psychoeducational groups and classes for patients and families.
• Function as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Make post-discharge wellness check calls on discharged patients.
• Ensure and maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
• Follow all policies in daily job performance.
• Actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety or quality of care.
• Attend in-service presentations and complete all mandatory education requirements.
• Practice, develop, and endorse customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required.
• 2 years of experience in a clinical setting (inpatient or outpatient/partial hospital) addressing psychiatric and chemical dependency issues or 3 years of continuous active recovery in a twelve-step program.
• Professional certification and/or licensure as LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or LPC required (or actively pursuing with projected completion within 2.5 years of hire).
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association required upon hire.
• CPI certification required within 90 days of hire.

Skills

• Ability to listen, empathize, and respond to patient, family, and partner needs.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good working knowledge of community resources for psychiatry, psychotherapy, and mutual support groups.
• Ability to perform as a team member on a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
