About the Role
As an Independent Mental Health Therapist, you will provide compassionate and effective psychotherapy and counseling services to clients managing mental health challenges. You will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and maintain clinical documentation while managing your caseload.
Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate and assess the bio-psycho-social needs of patients, treating mental health disorders through therapy sessions using modalities such as individual, group, family, and/or significant other counseling and education.
- Provide crisis intervention when needed.
- Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with clients, peers, coworkers, and community members.
- Maintain open, therapeutic communication with peers, patients, and patients' families.
- Uphold strict standards of ethical behavior, including confidentiality of all patient affairs.
- Work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
- Document clinical services (evaluations, progress notes, group notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries) reflecting progress toward treatment goals in accordance with departmental policies and licensure standards.
- Collaborate, consult, refer, and coordinate treatment and discharge/after-care services with the treatment team, internal programs, external agencies, and significant others.
- Assume responsibility for personal and professional growth, including compliance with annual competencies and fulfilling yearly education requirements to maintain an active license.
- Participate in mandatory safety, security, and infection control programs as required by the department.
- Assist in ensuring timely reimbursement for services rendered by providing information for utilization reviews, obtaining proper authorizations, and maintaining up-to-date patient demographics and insurance information.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Nursing, or a related behavioral health field.
- Independent Mental Health Practitioner/Counselor license in Nebraska (preferred).
- Three years of post-license experience in mental health, addiction recovery, or a related field.
