About the role
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is seeking a full-time Mental Health Therapist to join the Community Support Team. The ideal candidate will provide individual therapy sessions to clients with serious mental illness (SMI), trauma, and other needs in a home or community setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group therapy to adults with SMI in the home and in community-based settings.
- Participate in weekly supervision and staff meetings to aid in staff development.
- Achieve and maintain accurate documentation in a timely manner, meeting Rule 140/132 and/or MCO requirements.
- Transport clients as needed.
- Comply with documentation and productivity standards.
- Demonstrate adherence to ethical standards of treatment according to the NASW Code of Ethics.
- Show professional, positive behavior and treat clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations/facilities in a dignified, respectful, honest, and fair manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Background check clearance required.
- LSW/LPC, LCSW/LCPC preferred.
- Two to three years’ experience working with and providing therapy to mental health and/or substance use populations preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EHR documentation and review.
- Familiarity with accreditation and licensure standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organization, presentation, and computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related software.
- Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
- Access to reliable transportation required.
- Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury, and property damage required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based practices.
- Experience with EHR documentation and review.
- Familiarity with accreditation and licensure standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.

$26-$28 hourly.
