About the role

MHS positions at CCS offer competitive wages starting at $55,000 for MHS II, up to $108,400 for MHS IV, based on experience and education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services to children, adults and families, including screening, assessment, individual and group therapy, consultation, and other allowed clinical services.
  • Participate in joint case planning and coordination with agency employees and relevant community partners.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and other agencies, and assist clients in accessing necessary resources.
  • Work with other staff and community representatives to initiate new programs, review, evaluate, and revise existing programs.
  • Provide behavioral health and addiction education, prevention, and information to various interest groups.
  • Assist other clinicians in facilitating groups as needed.
  • Provide after-hours emergency services, including telephone consultation and crisis intervention.
  • Initiate holds, conduct civil commitment investigations, and work with hospitals, case workers, and the state on behalf of clients.
  • Ensure all paperwork is professional, timely, and compliant with OAR’s and other guidelines.
  • Attend trainings, meetings, and conferences as directed by administration.
  • Provide intensive children’s treatment services.
  • Utilize agency software to prepare and maintain client records and reports.
  • Transport clients as required.
  • Administer urinalysis tests and provide accurate information to clients.
  • Report all abuse to appropriate authorities and develop safety plans as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience:
    • MHS IV: Doctorate degree from an accredited college in social work, psychology, or other human service-related field, or master’s degree with certification as LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.
    • MHS III: Master’s degree from an accredited college in social work, psychology, or other human service-related field.
    • MHS II w/ Variance: Bachelors degree, enrolled or willing to enroll in a Masters program within 4 months of hire.
  • Certifications: Certified Mental Health Investigator, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor.
  • Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of symptoms and challenges faced by people with mental illness and addictions, relevant OAR’s, effective communication, teamwork, client advocacy, confidentiality, computer literacy, and driving.
  • Physical Demands: Regularly sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers, and handle, smell, or feel. Occasionally stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and squat. Lift up to 30 pounds. May occasionally work in noisy environments and on less than optimal amounts of sleep.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be able to obtain certification as a Certified Mental Health Investigator.
  • Must have or be able to obtain designations as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor.
  • Must possess or have the ability to acquire knowledge about symptoms and challenges faced by people with mental illness and addictions.
  • Must have or possess the ability to acquire knowledge about relevant OAR’s.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and work independently.
  • Must have skills to professionally work with the public and coordinate services across various agencies and community groups.
  • Must be able to develop cooperative and respectful relationships with clients and their families.
  • Must have knowledge about the recovery model.
  • Must possess the ability to represent the interest of the customer and the agency in a favorable light in the community.
  • Must have the ability to work well with teams and other groups of individuals.
  • Must be computer literate and have the ability to type and utilize word processing and other software programs/systems.
  • The position requires the handling of highly confidential information and adherence to rules and laws pertaining to client confidentiality.
  • Criminal Background Checks: Must pass all criminal history checks as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 410-007-0200 through 410-007-0380.
  • Personal Auto Insurance: Must hold a valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance for privately owned vehicles used for CCS business.
