Mental Health Therapist 2 - Oregon State Hospital, Salem Campus
About the role
The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) seeks a Mental Health Therapist 2 to provide primary case management and teach classes in a treatment specialty area at the Oregon State Hospital, Salem Campus. Under supervision, you will also provide behavioral therapy and contribute to the therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary case management for a group of mentally, emotionally or behaviorally impaired patients.
- Design, teach, and evaluate classes in treatment specialty areas such as criminality or addiction.
- Provide behavioral therapy to patients.
- Participate in the basic care and treatment of patients and provide security and escort services.
- Contribute to the general therapeutic atmosphere of the work unit.
Requirements
- Three years of experience working with people with behavioral illness or histories or physically impaired clients.
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in social science (such as social work, human services, psychology, child development, gerontology, health, or health education).
- Experience working in the mental health field.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Experience in milieu management.
- Ability to manage stressful situations.
- Possess basic computer skills and be willing to learn new technologies as they are introduced into the workplace.
- Must be able to work more than 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours in a week as required.
- May require working on-call and/or rotating schedules.
