About the role
The TCBH Nursing Department is hiring for a Mental Health Technician that would provide non-professional direct care for consumers of behavioral health treatment in an inpatient setting. This includes participation in de-escalation activities and assuring that consumers are kept safe. This position acts as a role model for consumers, demonstrating effective problem solving and decision-making skills and will assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities for the consumer, transporting residents to and from medical appointments, and assuring scheduled programming is carried out.
Responsibilities
- Provide non-professional direct care for consumers of behavioral health treatment in an inpatient setting.
- Participate in de-escalation activities and assure that consumers are kept safe.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities for the consumer.
- Transport residents to and from medical appointments.
- Assure scheduled programming is carried out.
Requirements
- MHT III – Two years of experience in providing patient care
- MHT II – One year of experience in providing patient care
- MHT I – No experience required
Special Requirements
- Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.
- Applicant must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 50 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 25 pounds.

Pay
- (Level III)-$17.59
- (Level II)- $16.29
- (Level I)-$15.10
Schedule
- Primary hours: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Shift differentials when applicable
