About the Role

Provides direct and indirect care, under the direction of the registered nurse (RN), for a patient or an assigned group of patients. Meets patient care needs through the use of the nursing process. Cares for patients of different age groups by using age-related interventions as assigned by the RN.

Responsibilities

• Implements psychosocial interventions and assists with basic activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, ambulating, transferring, elimination needs, and therapeutic program participation.
• Assists in maintaining program function including meal supervision and patient safety checks.
• Assists in structured therapeutic activities and supportive interactions with patients.
• Utilizes seclusion and restraint interventions, as needed.
• Conducts therapeutic interventions with patients exhibiting significant disturbances in emotional, cognitive, and physical behaviors.
• Facilitates or co-facilitates therapeutic group processes, including verbal process, patient education, and groups encouraging nonverbal means of expression and communication.
• Interprets patient’s behavior or physical symptoms to recognize and report abnormal behaviors to the RN for intervention.
• Performs data collection and physical examinations for patients; participates with the RN in planning care and implementing interventions.
• Participates with other team members in developing plans for meeting the daily care needs of patients, as determined by the care plan.
• Conducts required patient monitoring according to policy and documents individual patient care information.
• Supports patient and family through empathetic interaction and education within scope of practice; identifies and reinforces patient/family teaching plans.
• Fosters patient participation in the program environment and offers support in coping with immediate situations.
• Assists nursing staff in clerical duties, including preparing new charts on admission, filling out routine forms, and answering telephones.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Two years' experience in a behavioral healthcare setting: Preferred

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification: Preferred
• Management of Assaultive Behavior certification: Preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A: Required

Schedule

• Full-time, regular position
• Night Shift
• 8-hour shifts

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $21.38 to $27.90 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
