Mental Health Technician Full Time - Nights

Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital in Auburn Hills, Michigan, specializing in comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and adults.

About the role

The Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, including assisting with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, monitoring patients for potential aggressive behaviors, and using appropriate interventions to de-escalate situations.

Responsibilities

• Follow instructions from nursing leadership and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Report patient medical problems and alterations in sensory perceptual images (illusions, delusions, hallucinations) to the Registered Nurse.
• Monitor safety issues related to patients experiencing sensory perceptual disturbances and take action to prevent harm.
• Provide care that ensures safety, respects patients’ rights, and maintains comfort and a therapeutic environment.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients in a timely manner, completing appropriate documentation.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and encourage independent behavior with appropriate interventions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related health fields preferred.
• Experience in dealing with emotionally disturbed individuals preferred.

Schedule

Full-time nights, 36 hours per week, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other weekend.
