Mental Health Technician

At Oak Street North we focus on depression, anxiety, suicidality, self-injurious behavior, trauma, and personality disorders. We also commonly see comorbid substance use disorder, OCD, and eating disorders. Our patient interactions and interventions are therapeutic, highly interpersonal, and skills-based.

About the role

Responsible for providing direct care to patients with psychiatric disorders to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and to support the maintenance of a therapeutic milieu. This position is 32 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts rotating between Days and Evenings on the Psychotic Disorders Unit.

Responsibilities

• Assist with care and treatment of psychiatric, drug, and alcohol patients.
• Advocate for patients who may be vulnerable or need additional support.
• Provide parent/family counseling, including Parent Management Training and Family Systems interventions.
• Adhere to guidelines for patients on special status (e.g., suicide, sexual abuse, or AWOL precautions).
• Provide accurate information during shift-to-shift report and remain on the unit while the incoming shift is in report.
• Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
• Display professional boundaries in relationships with patients at all times.
• Complete and file all documentation as required in a timely manner.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred.
• Nursing Assistant (LNA - New Hampshire) license preferred.
• 0-1 year of related experience preferred.
• Successful completion of CPI training is required within 30 days of hire.

Pay

$20.84 - $29.79 per hour.
