About the role
As a Mental Health Tech (MHT), you'll work alongside the nursing team to support quality patient care on the unit.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and assist with activities of daily living
- Support group activities as directed
- Observe patient status and the physical environment and promptly communicate behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric changes to licensed staff
- Help with nutrition needs in coordination with nurses
- Use therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques when needed
- Complete basic clerical tasks as indicated
Requirements
- High school education (or higher)
- Certified Nurses Aide preferred
- Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Previous work experience with psychiatric and/or geriatric patients preferred
