Mental Health Specialist (3rd Shift)

About the role

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency committed to preventing and treating substance use and mental health disorders. Programs are located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, offering a comprehensive continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. The agency supports individuals and families in achieving personal change and improving their quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • Facilitate assigned groups and complete accurate, timely group documentation
  • Monitor and supervise patients during meals, groups, lectures, and approved activities
  • Provide direct supervision of patients on the unit to support safety and treatment goals
  • Aid in routine and emergency medical and psychiatric situations
  • Serve as a campus responder using walkie-talkie communication systems
  • Observe, document, and communicate patient behaviors and interactions
  • Participate in rehabilitative, therapeutic, and recreational activities with patients
  • Assist with admissions and discharges, including completion of required paperwork
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment
  • Attend all required meetings, trainings, and educational conferences
  • Adhere to standard precautions and infection control practices
  • Demonstrate respect for patient rights, dignity, and confidentiality
  • Maintain required competencies and certifications
  • Perform all Mental Health Worker responsibilities and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Knowledge of behavioral health conditions and substance use disorders
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional therapeutic boundaries
  • Understanding of ethical standards and confidentiality requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to address scheduling, training, and personnel-related issues
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Certification in an HPTC-approved de-escalation program or willingness to complete training
  • Ability to complete required annual TB screening

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health or human services field preferred
  • Prior experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or a related field preferred
  • Peer Certification or Recovery Coach training preferred, or willingness to complete training within six months of hire
