Where you'll be working

We have a number of specialised mental health nursing positions across the following sites of Macquarie Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, and Northern Beaches Hospital, including specialist older persons and young persons units.

What you'll be doing

The mental health Registered Nurse (RN) within MHDA services leads and supports person-centered consumer health outcomes with a focus on recovery within inpatient health care settings. The mental health RN assumes a leadership role within the nursing team, supporting, teaching, mentoring, and leading nursing staff including Enrolled Nurses (EN) and Assistants in Nursing (AIN). The mental health RN leads and supports the implementation of specific mental health nursing care activities that support the multidisciplinary health care team.

The intention of the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma-informed services that are guided by evidence-based practice and collaboration, recognizing each person's unique journey of recovery in a way that fosters hope, purpose, and resilience.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse – Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills along with experience working within mental health.
  • Contemporary mental health, nursing clinical knowledge and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work within a Multidisciplinary team.
