Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist-(P/T) (Help Program) Cortland County Mental Healt

This position involves providing paraprofessional psychiatric treatment services to mentally/psychiatrically-disabled adults and youth both in the agency and the community. The role includes participating as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical treatment team to plan and conduct appropriate treatment programs to assist individuals in regaining and retaining psychiatric stability and a wide range of other functional abilities. The Rehabilitation Specialist, in consultation with other mental health professionals and paraprofessionals, is responsible for meeting the individual needs of assigned cases. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Program Director while exercising independent judgment when rendering services.

Responsibilities

• Provide paraprofessional psychiatric treatment services to mentally/psychiatrically-disabled adults and youth.
• Participate as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical treatment team to plan and conduct treatment programs.
• Assist individuals in regaining and retaining psychiatric stability and functional abilities.
• Meet the individual needs of assigned cases in consultation with other mental health professionals.
• Perform all related duties as required.

Requirements

• Either:
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service, Mental Health, or a related field; OR
  • Possession of an Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Mental Health, or a related field AND two (2) years of full-time paid (or equivalent part-time and/or volunteer) experience working with the mentally disabled or in a Human Service program; OR
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency diploma AND four (4) years of full-time paid (or equivalent part-time and/or volunteer) experience working with the mentally disabled or in a Human Service program; OR
  • Any combination of training and experience equal to or greater than that described above.
• Degree must be awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded outside the United States, independent verification of equivalency is required.
• Pre-employment screenings required.

Pay

$25.2266–$31.9304 per hour (CSEA Union)

Schedule

Part-time, up to 17 hours per week, no benefits.

Location: Cortland County Mental Health Department. Status: Non-competitive, Probationary.
